Scotiabank Centre Re-opening

October 26, 2018 (HALIFAX) - Scotiabank Centre, Atlantic Canada’s largest venue for marquee sporting and entertainment events, re-opens today following completion of the ice slab replacement project.

The facility closed in early July to allow work to commence on the 40-year old ice-making system, which took approximately 17 weeks to complete.  The project, which involved 6,400 hours of labour and 240+ cubic meters of concrete, was completed on time and as budgeted.

“Continued investment in the facility through projects like this ensure we can continue to deliver the variety and high calibre of events our community has come to expect at Scotiabank Centre,” said Carrie Cussons, president & CEO of Scotiabank Centre. “We’re thrilled to welcome our guests and tenants back to the facility and look forward to an incredible event lineup in the year ahead.”

Scotiabank Centre will kick off the season with the Halifax Mooseheads home opener on October 27.

“Our players and fans have been looking forward to Saturday’s home opener at the Scotiabank Centre since our training camp in August,” said Brian Urquhart, president of the Halifax Mooseheads. “The success the team has had on their 15 game road trip has only added to that excitement.”
